Teaching Philosophy

Learning occurs when a student starts trying to think for themselves. While the process may begin with an instructor or a book explaining a concept or working through an example, this will go in one ear and out the other without an attempt made on the students behalf.  My goal for my students is to feel comfortable applying concepts from class to improve every day decisions. My goal for myself as an instructor is to make an inclusive and exciting work environment where students of any background feel comfortable sharing there insights on any topic without fear of being told that they were wrong, rather, we all share our ways of thinking about a topic respectfully and encourage each individual to assume there is something they don't know about a topic.
